WoodmansPal

Every Outdoorsman Should Carry a Woodman’s Pal!

In a what-if scenario where a hunter or fisherman was asked, “what is the one survival tool you would choose if you were alone in the woods?” most outdoorsmen would choose the Woodman’s Pal because of its versatility and sturdy design. The tagline on the Woodman’s Pal is "A machete with the power of an axe", and this tool lives up to its branding!

The Woodman’s Pal is ideal for blazing trails because it is designed to trim, chop and split wood and other vegetation. The Woodman’s Pal can be swung like either an ax or a machete and its heavy steal construction bites through saplings and brush easily to blaze a trail through thick vegetation. However that is not the only use for the Woodman’s Pal, which can also be used to clear campsites, chop wood or split kindling for a fire, hammer in stakes, or build a hunting blind. The curved end can be used pull roots, or even to find purchases on steep slopes. Though not intended as a weapon, the obvious uses as a machete also make this tool a very formidable weapon for survival.

The Woodman’s Pal is 100% designed and made by American’s out of American materials and is handcrafted in Pennsylvania, with a guarantee for a lifetime of service. The Woodman’s Pal was designed by Frederick Ehrsam in 1941 as the forestry tool that could perform many tasks well and that would also eliminate drawbacks like awkwardness, lack of balance or safety issues for an inexperienced user.

The US Military renamed the tool the "LC-14-B" and issued it to G.I.’s from the early part of World War II through Desert Storm. During the Vietnam War, the Woodman's Pal was issued and called the "Survival Tool, Type IV” to aircrews.

You can purchase this same well-crafted tool today. The best materials and exact same quality and integrity still go into each handcrafted Woodman’s Pal. The blade of the Woodman’s Pal is made from cold rolled spring steel, hardened to Rockwell C47 in order to hold the edge for a long duration without becoming brittle. The blade is riveted and cemented to a handle shaped from a single piece of American hardwood. For convenient carrying, the Woodman’s Pal can be kept in a belt-looped sheath made of leather, canvas or nylon.

All the care and craftsmanship that goes into the Woodman's Pal makes it one of the essential tools for every outdoorsman, and one that with proper care, will last a lifetime. The Woodman’s Pal is an essential outdoor enthusiast’s tool!
